A Working Meeting on the Groundwater Management Project Held at the Institute of Water Problems
On the 28th of October,2025 a working meeting was held at the Institute of Water Problems, Hydropower and Ecology of the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan with the participation of representatives from HELVETAS and the IHE Delft Institute for Water Education (the Netherlands). The discussion focused on the progress and next steps in the implementation of the project aimed at strengthening national capacities in groundwater management.
During the meeting, the participants reviewed in detail the three key components of the project:
development of a multilingual glossary of hydrogeological terminology (in Tajik, Russian, and English);
elaboration of a modern curriculum in hydrogeology;
creation of an educational module to support the training of young specialists in the field of groundwater.
It was emphasized that the successful implementation of these components will contribute to:
strengthening the scientific and educational foundation in groundwater studies;
harmonizing terminology to enhance cooperation between experts and institutions;
preparing qualified personnel capable of addressing groundwater use and protection challenges;
reinforcing international collaboration and exchange of best practices.
The parties agreed to maintain regular coordination to ensure high-quality results and to promote sustainable knowledge development in groundwater management.
