Report on the Scientific Activities of the Institute for the First Half of 2026

  On 22 June 2026, a general meeting was held in the conference hall of the Institute of Water Problems, Hydropower and Ecology of the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan, during which the report covering the first six months of 2026 was presented and discussed.

The Director of the Institute, Doctor of Technical Sciences A.A. Gulahmadzoda, presented the report on the Institute’s activities for the first half of 2026 to the Institute’s staff.

Scientific-Practical Conference and Training Seminar on Ecosystem-Based Disaster Risk Reduction Launched in Dushanbe

  On 23 June 2026, the Institute of Water Problems, Hydropower and Ecology of the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan hosted the opening of the scientific-practical conference entitled “Ecosystem-based Disaster Risk Reduction (Eco-DRR): Strengthening Ecological Resilience in the Context of Climate Change.” The event is organized in cooperation with the Swiss Cooperation Office in Tajikistan and the Aga Khan Foundation in Tajikistan and will take place from 23 to 26 June 2026.

Memorandum of Understanding Signed in Dushanbe

   A bilateral meeting was held in Dushanbe between the leadership of the Institute of Water Problems, Hydropower and Ecology of the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan and representatives of the Aga Khan Foundation in Tajikistan.

  During the meeting, the parties discussed opportunities to strengthen scientific and technical cooperation, implement joint projects in the fields of water resources management, hydropower development, environmental protection, climate change adaptation, and disaster risk reduction.

Field Expedition on Agricultural Drought Monitoring Conducted in Dangara District

  On 18 June 2026, staff of the Institute of Water Problems, Hydropower and Ecology of the National Academy of Sciences of Tajikistan conducted a field expedition in Dangara District within the framework of the project “Earth Observation-based Agricultural Drought Monitoring Systems for Tajikistan”, in cooperation with the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP). The event brought together representatives of government ministries and agencies responsible for agriculture, water resources, disaster risk management, environmental protection, land management and geodesy, as well as representatives of scientific and educational institutions.
